How Do I Get Started?

St. Paul’s Church is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at St. Paul’s and beyond.

Immediate needs:

  • Children’s Sunday School needs volunteers to teach or to be on a substitution list.
  • The Heavy Metal Bell Choir needs extra hands for ringing!  Some of us ring more bells than we need to.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of these areas, contact us by email, or call the church office: 580-765-7512.

Small Group (or Sunday School)

Often, small groups of people are better able to interact to learn and grow in their Christian walk.   10:00- 10:50 every Sunday morning.

Sunday Helper Ministry

We have opportunities for Sunday worship helpers – those behind-the-scenes folks who help enhance the worship experience and keep things running smoothly.  Greeter, usher and liturgist volunteers are most welcome.  We have a vocal and instrumental music ministry which always have openings for those with musical talents.  There is also the important media ministry.  Volunteers in sound, video and computer equipment will be taught how to run St. Paul’s equipment, or trained in the software used to create worship services and keep the website up to date.  This links to more information about what is needed for Sunday worship.

Kids Zone

St. Pauls provides an after-school program on Wednesdays during the school year.  Teachers, transportation, and snack providers are welcome!  More information about this program here.

Student Ministry

Each Sunday morning, children get to participate in their own classes. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child gets to participate and learn. We also teach Christian life skills such as how to pray, how to serve others and verses that help us in our life outside of church.  Classes for teens are designed to help them accelerate their study of God’s word and apply it’s meaning in their every day lives. Our classes are divided into Young Student Youth (up to Fifth Grade); and St. Paul’s Youth (Sixth Grade through High School).  A great way to get your student involved, and a way to serve this amazing school age group.

Women’s Group (UMW)

The United Methodist Women Group expands the fellowship of church membership by providing the ladies in our church family special times of interaction.  This links to a page with more information.

Love Quilts

This is a group of women who meet for quilting and fellowship. They offer their complete quilts to various organizations including hospitals, the fire department, the police department and others as “love” quilts for people in need of some comfort.  They meet the Last Tuesday of every month from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in room 130.

Facility care:  The Trustees maintain the building and equipment but volunteers are welcomed for lawn care and flower bed work.  Around twice a year a Saturday is set aside for a work day at the church.

Scouts:  We sponsor a Brownie Troop and Boy Scout Troop 56.

Hospice: St. Paul’s has close ties to North Central Oklahoma Hospice and hosts benefit suppers for this organization.

Weight Watchers:  Meets every Tuesday evening at 6:00 in Fellowship Hall.

CDC:  We host a spaghetti supper two times a year, and take a special “Miles of Pennies” offering once a year in support of the Ponca City Child Development Center.
